Aims of the Course: An introduction to Hatha Yoga and the principles of the different elements of yoga.
We will work within your own capabilities and give you the confidence to practice at home.
Learning Goals (by the end of the course you will be able to)
* Perform a number of yoga postures to your own ability.
* Practice yoga breathing and be aware of its uses.
* Practice simple techniques of yoga meditation and relaxation
About the Course Hatha Yoga is actually what most people would call yoga. This is a system of yoga pioneered in India by a 15th Century Yogic Sage named Yogi Swatmarama. Hatha Yoga is a system of yoga most popular in the world and is commonly practiced in the West. By using a combination of postures (asanas), relaxation, breath work (pranayama) and meditation we will explore the wealth of benefits that yoga practice can bring to the individual. Yoga has been linked to decreasing stress, depression and anxiety. Those who do yoga also often report feelings of wellbeing, happiness and overall contentment. No previous knowledge or experience is required.
